Copper anode M1E is the best solution for metal processing to increase its electrical conductivity.

Many manufacturers choosing copper anode for its subsequent operation in the field of microelectronics, also for electrotyping and copper plating projects.

Copper plating is one of the main area where copper anode is used as raw material.

When applying a copper coating to the surface of an article during chemical electrolysis, with the help of anode, protective layer of copper is formed on the treated surface.

Properties of copper electroplating include: excellent electrical conductivity, good lubrication, and solderability.

If you have a special requirements: Just contact us and we will try to help you on all your questions. We working with suppliers inside and outside the European Union, we have an opportunity to offer you many more options in the field of metal anodes, also different metal forms such as metal powders.

High-Quality Copper Anodes

Nowadays, many manufacturers are producing and selling copper anodes online and offline. The shapes, sizes, and prices vary. Apart from the prices and product description, the manufacturer’s guarantee is a good sign of the anodes. It shows that they paid some attention to the production. Moreover, here is a further explanation of a high-quality copper anode.

Copper anode production

Coper, as the primary material in making the anode, can be pure or scrap. Pure means that 95% copper is anodized with impurities separated as sludge. The scrap one could have several contaminants, such as gold, silver, steel, sulfur, iron, zinc, arsenic, and others. Then the copper ore is ground and mixed with other materials, including pentyl furoate, pine oil, water, and others. The additive materials vary depending on the manufacturers. The mixture is purified by passing compressed air. Then the purified mixture is mixed with sand and limestone. The final mixture then is heated to 1110 Celcius degrees in an oxygen furnace. The casting process follows. A fine production process should result in copper anodes with refined and uniform grains. That is another sign of a high-quality copper anode.

Copper anode variation

Popular final products usually come in two types: oxygen-free or pure copper anodes and phosphorus copper anodes.

  • Pure copper anode

With pure copper as the primary material, the additional materials only cover a minimal ratio. The final products have 99.95% pure copper. There is no copper oxide inclusion and no pores in the appearance. The product is applied for the alkaline plating process in pyrophosphate and cyanide baths.

  • Phosphorous copper anode

This type of anode uses phosphor as an additional material. The content varies with the usual range is 0.004-0.06%. The phosphor is added during the casting process, which will melt and diffuse instantly in the mixture. The phosphor should be evenly distributed to create a good result. This type is usually used in PCBs.
